CE marking of a machine and EC declaration of conformity

Are you building a machine, modifying one or importing one from abroad? We help with the risk assessment, technical documentation, the EC declaration of conformity and CE marking.

  • Machine risk assessment under ČSN EN ISO 12100
  • EC declaration of conformity and CE label
  • Machines built in-house, modified or imported

When you need CE marking and an EC declaration of conformity

Anyone who builds a machine, even for their own use within a company, must make sure before putting it into service that it meets the health and safety requirements. They must draw up the technical documentation, issue a declaration of conformity and mark the machine with CE.

  • You build a machine or an entire production line
  • You significantly modify or rebuild a machine (different function, output or safety system)
  • You import a machine from a country outside the European Union
  • You built a machine in your company for your own use

What we prepare for you

  • Assessment of the design, construction and electrical wiring of the machine
  • Preparation and review of the risk assessment
  • Addition of safety features and recommended measures
  • Preparation and issue of the EC declaration of conformity
  • Marking of the equipment with a CE label
  • A final report and technical documentation under Annex VII of Directive 2006/42/EC

Regulations we work under

Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery currently applies, implemented in the Czech Republic by Government Regulation No. 176/2008 Coll. From 20 January 2027 it will be replaced by Regulation (EU) 2023/1230: the technical documentation is then in Annex IV, and the EC declaration of conformity is renamed the EU declaration of conformity. Machines placed on the market earlier are assessed under the transitional provisions. We always adapt the procedure to the regulation in force on the day of completion.

How the process works

  1. We inspect the machine and assess its construction and electrical wiring
  2. We prepare the risk assessment and propose measures
  3. We add safety features or recommend them to the manufacturer or supplier
  4. We prepare the technical documentation and the final report
  5. We issue the EC declaration of conformity and mark the machine with CE

Which documents to prepare

  • Electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
  • Drawings, a manual or a description of how the machine works
  • Type, manufacturer and serial number, and a list of components used with their CE marking
  • A contact for the person who knows and operates the machine

Frequently asked questions

Does a machine built in a company for its own use also need CE marking?

Yes. Whoever builds a machine is its manufacturer, even if it is used only within their own company. They must carry out a risk assessment, draw up the technical documentation, issue a declaration of conformity and mark the machine with CE.

Is a notified body required?

For most machines it is not; the manufacturer carries out the conformity assessment themselves. For some risk categories of machines the procedure differs and a notified body must be involved. We find this out during the first assessment of the machine.

Does an older machine also need CE marking?

A machine built before CE marking became mandatory does not need it. The operator must, however, ensure its safe operation under Government Regulation No. 378/2001 Coll., for which a local operating safety instruction (MPBP), operating documentation and inspections serve.

How much does the work cost?

The price depends on the complexity of the machine and the scope of modifications. We prepare a quotation after an inspection or after you send the documents.
