  • Initial and periodic inspections
  • Inspection report for insurers

Why an electrical installation inspection matters

Periodic inspections are mandatory for designated electrical equipment operated in business, in municipalities and in public buildings (Act No. 250/2021 Coll., Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll.); for flats and family houses the standard recommends them. Their main purpose is to ensure safe operation and to minimise the risk of fires and electric shock.

With many years of experience, we carry out every inspection professionally, carefully and in compliance with the applicable regulations and standards.

  • Safety – we prevent faults that lead to fires or electric shock
  • Legal compliance – inspections for occupancy approvals, official checks and audits
  • Protection of property and longer service life of equipment

Our services – electrical installation inspections

  1. Initial inspection – a complete check of new installations before they are put into operation
  2. Periodic inspections – at intervals under Annex 4 of Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll. or the operator's inspection and maintenance rules
  3. Extraordinary inspections – after a breakdown, renovation or change of use

When to order an electrical installation inspection

  • After a new or renovated installation is completed – initial inspection before commissioning and for the occupancy approval
  • When increasing the reserved capacity (replacing the main circuit breaker in front of the meter)
  • When the owner or tenants of a flat or house change – the standard ČSN 33 2000-6 strongly recommends an inspection in that case
  • For an insurer, a bank or when selling a property
  • Periodically for installations used in business, in municipalities and in public buildings – at intervals according to Annex 4 of Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll.

What determines the price of an inspection

The price depends on the size of the building, the number of distribution boards and circuits, the availability of project documentation and previous inspection reports, the condition of the installation and whether it is an initial or periodic inspection. We prepare an exact quotation once the scope is clarified – just call or write to us.

How an electrical installation inspection works

  1. Inspection of distribution boards, circuit breakers, RCDs and the condition of the wiring
  2. Measurement of insulation resistance, loop impedance and protective bonding
  3. Functional tests of residual current devices
  4. Inspection report with an assessment and proposed measures

Frequently asked questions

How does an electrical installation inspection work?

The technician carries out an inspection, measurements and functional tests of the protective devices. The result is an inspection report suitable for insurers, occupancy approval and supervisory authorities.

How often is an electrical installation inspected?

The basic maximum intervals are set by Annex 4 of Government Decree 190/2022 Coll.: office buildings 5 years; production, schools, accommodation and healthcare facilities 3 years; buildings with more than 200 people 2 years; wet areas and areas with corrosive substances 1 year. If several intervals apply, the shortest one applies.

What is an inspection report used for?

It documents the condition of the electrical installation at the time of the inspection. It is used for occupancy approval, insurance claims, official checks and audits. It contains the scope of the inspection, measured values, faults found and the deadline for the next inspection.

Is an inspection of the electrical installation in a flat or family house mandatory?

An initial inspection is required for a new or renovated installation. Periodic inspections of the installations of flats, dwellings and residences are not prescribed here (note to clause 6.5.2.1 of ČSN 33 2000-6 ed. 2), but the standard considers them appropriate – especially when the owner or tenants change and when the reserved capacity is increased – and gives a longer interval of up to ten years as an example for flats. For equipment used in business, the intervals from Annex 4 of Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll. apply.

What affects the price of an electrical installation inspection?

The size of the building, the number of distribution boards and circuits, the completeness of the documentation, the technical condition of the installation and the type of inspection (initial, periodic, extraordinary). We give the exact price once the scope is clarified.

What is the difference between an initial and a periodic inspection?

An initial inspection is done before a new or renovated installation is put into operation. A periodic inspection verifies the condition of equipment already in use, at intervals based on the environment and type of building (Annex 4 of Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll.).
