Three terms that get mixed up
Amendment Z2 of ČSN 33 1600 ed. 2 thus distinguishes whether it is a short repeat test or a more complete inspection. In practice the intervals from Table 1 are often given as inspection intervals; the decision on the interval is up to the competent person and the operator.
- Repeat test of an appliance: testing under ČSN EN 50699 at the intervals from Table 1 of ČSN 33 1600
- Repeat inspection: an inspection under ČSN 33 1600 at four times these intervals; an inspection can replace the test
- Test after repair: always carried out after a repair under ČSN EN 50678
Who may carry them out
A person skilled in electrical engineering, trained in carrying out tests, with a suitable and calibrated measuring instrument (ČSN 33 1600 as amended by Z1 and Z2, ČSN EN 50678, ČSN EN 50699). Appliances and hand-held tools are not designated electrical equipment under Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll., so a TIČR certificate is not required. Our inspections are carried out by an inspection technician with a certificate.
Which limits apply
The insulation resistance limits differ according to the standard under which the testing is done. For an inspection under ČSN 33 1600, Table 2 applies (for example class II hand-held 7 MΩ). For a repeat test under ČSN EN 50699 the limits are lower: class I 1 MΩ, class II 2 MΩ, heating appliances 0.3 MΩ, class III 0.25 MΩ.
What to choose
If you do not know what your company needs, we will advise you. The price is from 39 CZK per item; we prepare a quote once the number and type of appliances are clarified.
- Regular intervals, shorter repeat tests: according to Table 1
- A more complete inspection with a report: at four times the intervals, or when a customer or insurer wants an inspection document
- After every repair: a test under ČSN EN 50678
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an inspection and a repeat test of an appliance?
A repeat test is done under ČSN EN 50699 at the intervals from Table 1 of ČSN 33 1600. A repeat inspection is done under ČSN 33 1600 at four times these intervals and can replace the test.
Does an inspection technician need a certificate for appliances?
No. Appliances are not designated electrical equipment under Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll. The tests are carried out by a person skilled in electrical engineering, trained and with a calibrated instrument.
Must an appliance be tested after a repair?
Yes. After a repair the appliance is tested under ČSN EN 50678 and only then returned to service.
